Breastmilk has so many natural benefits for your baby. It can boost their immunity, nourish them with vitamins and minerals, and boost their brain development. Unfortunately, breastfeeding isn’t always possible. This is exactly why Oklahoma Mother’s Milk Bank was formed. This center is here to make sure every baby in the OKC area has the very best help right from the beginning! As an Oklahoma City newborn photographer, I love working with my clients to make sure they can make the most out of every season. Here is why I always recommend this center.

At Oklahoma Mother’s Milk Bank, they understand that sometimes, breastfeeding your baby isn’t always possible. This organization was founded to give moms the tools to nourish their babies no matter what. Founded in 2013, this group was the 13th milk bank in the entire country, finally giving moms across OKC the support they needed. While they do offer some solutions for moms at home, they mainly focus on providing milk to preterm or ill babies inside hospital settings. Thanks to their work, babies across the area have received over 200,000 ounces of milk!

If you are a breastfeeding mom looking for the best way to give back to the community, you can become an Oklahoma Mother’s Milk Bank donor! They couldn’t make starting with them any easier. You can head over to their website and fill out a screening form to see if you are a candidate. From there, the center will call you and ask you a few additional questions. You will complete a phone interview followed by an email interview. If they feel confident you will be a good match, they will pay for you to get your blood drawn. After this, you will receive a donor number as well as approval to start dropping off your milk at a designated location. You will feel confident knowing you are saving lives all across Oklahoma!

While Oklahoma Mothers Milk Bank offers so many exceptional services, their bereavement work is truly one-of-a-kind. Through their Milk While Mourning program, they partner with moms who are looking for a way to support others while grieving their own loss. If you would like to honor your baby by donating your milk, they will walk you through the steps while keeping empathy at the heart of their work. If you would prefer to stop producing milk, they can teach you different methods so you can just focus on healing.
If you are a breastfeeding mom looking for ways to support babies around the area, I think you are going to love Oklahoma Mother’s Milk Bank! With this group, you can be the village for those who need it most!
