Pumpkin patch season is finally here in OKC! There’s just something about crisp fall air, cozy sweaters, and picking out the perfect pumpkin that gets everyone in the spirit. If you’re like me and want to find the best spots for family fun this season, so I’ve put together a list of some of the top five pumpkin patches around OKC.
As an OKC family photographer, I’m always thinking about how gorgeous this time of year is for pictures. That soft, golden light and all the fall colors make for the sweetest memories. Whether you’re planning a big day out or just a quick trip to grab pumpkins and snap a few photos, these spots won’t disappoint.
Orr Family Farm is fall paradise with over 25 attractions that keep the whole family busy and smiling. It’s got everything you expect from a pumpkin patch and then some, perfect for a full day of fun!
Here’s just a sample of what you’ll find:
Orr Family Farm’s famous cookies are made fresh daily and are the perfect way to add a little extra magic to your visit!
At night, the farm lights up for “Pumpkin Farm Nights,” turning the whole place into a magical glowing wonderland that’s perfect for family strolls and fall photos.
If you’re downtown and don’t want to make the drive out to a farm, Pumpkinville is a really fun and beautiful option. It’s more like a walk-through fall display than a traditional pumpkin patch, but definitely worth a visit. The gardens are filled with thousands of pumpkins and gourds, and each year there is a new theme to enjoy. It’s stroller friendly and easy to get in and out, making it perfect for a quick family outing. Plus, the sensory-friendly night is a thoughtful way to make sure everyone has a great time.
Chester’s is more of a party style pumpkin patch, lively and full of things to do. There is a petting zoo, pony and tractor rides, a giant hay bale maze, bounce houses, corn cannons, and more. It is a great option if you have a group or want a high energy day. They also host the WINGS Fall Festival on weekends in October, which includes live music and food trucks. Admission covers most activities, but bring some extra cash for things like the zip line or snacks.
Walnut Woods is a charming 12-acre family farm in north Edmond, just east of Kelly and Simmon s. It’s a laid-back spot perfect for families who want to enjoy a day outdoors this fall. Along with classics like hayrides, slides, swings, and a petting zoo, Walnut Woods has some extra fun that sets it apart. Kids can try cow milking, hay bale calf roping, gaga ball, wobble boards, and even a giant checkerboard game. There’s also a play stage, mini golf, teeter totters, and lots of open space to run and explore. You can also take horseback rides for a little extra excitement. The property is surrounded by beautiful walnut and pecan trees, which makes it a great backdrop for family photos!
