If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the hunt for fun, meaningful ways to make memories with your kids—especially those that don’t involve screen time or another trip to the same playground. As a family and newborn photographer in OKC, I get to chat with so many amazing local moms, and a favorite topic that always comes up is what to do with the kids this weekend. Whether you’re chasing toddlers, wrangling a mix of ages, or just looking for a new spot to explore, OKC is full of family-friendly gems. Here are a few of my favorite go-to things to do with kids in Oklahoma City when we’re craving some fun!

The Oklahoma City Zoo is always a hit with my crew—and honestly, I think I love it just as much as the kids. It’s big enough to feel like an adventure but manageable enough to get through in a single morning if needed. The animal exhibits are well-designed, and there’s so much to do beyond just walking—like the petting zoo, train rides, and giraffe feeding.

Right next to the Oklahoma City Zoo, Science Museum Oklahoma is a lifesaver on rainy or hot days with kids. This place is massive and packed with interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and even a planetarium. It’s designed for curious kids, but it’s just as entertaining for grown-ups. If you’re raising a budding engineer or space lover, this place is a must.
1701 S Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73109
The Wheeler District is such a charming spot for a low-key family outing. The iconic Ferris wheel is a fun highlight, and the open green spaces are perfect for bringing a picnic or letting the kids run around. It’s also a fantastic place to snap a few family photos—seriously, the skyline views are stunning.
101 S Mickey Mantle Dr, Oklahoma City, OK 73104
If you’re downtown in Oklahoma City and looking for a spot for kids that’s full of action, Brickopolis is a great pick. Mini golf, arcade games, laser tag—there’s a little something for everyone. My older kids especially love the hands-on vibe, and I love that it’s in Bricktown, so we can make an afternoon of it with lunch or a stroll along the canal afterward.
300 SW 7th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73109
Scissortail Park is a dream for families. It has splash pads, play areas, paddle boats, and wide open lawns that invite everything from kite-flying to cartwheels. There’s almost always something happening here—concerts, food trucks, pop-up events—and it’s the kind of place that truly brings the community together.
If you’re planning your next family day out, I hope this gives you a few new ideas to make the most of what Oklahoma City has to offer. These things to do with kids in Oklahoma City are fun, family-approved, and full of moments you’ll want to hold onto forever.
And speaking of moments—if you’re ready to document the magic of this season with your little ones, as a motherhood and family photographer in OKC, I’d love to be the one behind the lens. Whether it’s a playful session in Scissortail Park or a cozy in-home lifestyle shoot, I’m here to capture your story just as it is. Reach out, and let’s create something beautiful!
